Team Leader - Asbestos Reform

There is an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader of the Asbestos Reform Unit within the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA). The main purpose of this role is to work with program managers to develop policies and processes that help the Department appropriately identify, remove and manage asbestos in schools. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply thought leadership and influence critical outcomes to ensure the Victorian School Asbestos Removal Program is effectively delivered.

Position Details

To be successful, the Team Leader will need to apply organisational awareness and stakeholder management skills to understand how asbestos can be effectively managed while minimising disruptions on other operations. The key stakeholders that the Team Leader will engage include Asbestos Reform program managers, VSBA programs, external program superintendents, asbestos experts, school principals and other DET groups. Written and verbal communications are critical to effectively communicate complex asbestos issues to a non-technical audience.

In addition to policy development, the Team Leader will be responsible for:

• Supporting DET and schools with change management to adopt best practices

• Supporting schools in communicating and engaging with the school community about asbestos projects

• Preparing briefings and correspondence regarding the Asbestos Removal Program

• Preparing formal reporting on the Asbestos Reform Unit's business

This work is often required to be completed in short timeframes, and responsiveness and strong organisational skills are critical to success.
