Senior Spatial Data Analyst

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly self-motivated team player to contribute to the planning of education facilities, including schools, early childhood facilities and infrastructure for students with disabilities across Victoria. You will be involved in the preparation and presentation of spatial analysis, discussion papers, submissions, reports and briefings for committees, expert bodies, ministers or key decision makers, and will have a key role in undertaking the research and analysis required to provide an evidence base for the planning, prioritisation and development of Departmental policy, projects or initiatives.

Position Details

To succeed in this role, you will have a demonstrated ability to produce, analyse and interpret complex spatial data to inform decision making, including developing or changing policies, processes and guidelines. You will have the opportunity to apply your problem solving skills, and your capacity to build strong relationships and networks will be critical. You will have a demonstrated understanding of government policies and processes.

Core responsibilities of the role include:
• Undertaking high quality planning and spatial data analysis relating to Departmental resource policy and infrastructure delivery, particularly planning for new schools;
• Contributing to key strategic projects relating to the Department's provision planning capabilities;
• Delivering long-term strategies and business cases to ensure effective utilisation of resources;
• Providing accurate, high-level and timely advice via written documents and visual presentation tools to the Executive Board and Ministers;
• Building and maintaining effective relationships within the Department, and with planning agencies, local government and other key external stakeholders; and
• Actively contributing to improved spatial analysis capabilities within the Department.
