Secondary School Nurse NG4A

The Secondary School Nurse plays a key role in providing health promotion, primary prevention and health education with the aim of reducing negative health outcomes and risk taking behaviors among young people. The role has a focus on the prevention of ill health and problem behaviors, by ensuring coordination between the school and community-based health and support services. The nurse supports school communities in addressing contemporary health and social issues facing young people and their families. The nurse also provides appropriate primary health care through professional nursing assessment, referral and support.
