The Divisional Business Manager is responsible for the delivery of business related functions across the Division including human resources, budget and finance and facilities and site services. The Business Manager leads a small team to deliver a range of business related functions to support the operations and program delivery of the Division to the Executive Director. This position forms part of the core leadership group across the Division and the wider PESG Group.

Position Details

The Business Manager supports the division in essential business processes and related systems – including financial, budgetary and accounting advice for the Division, works collaboratively with staff and contributes to improving processes and administrative practices that support efficient operations and compliances with the Department’s requirements. The position also provides support to the Executive Director (ED) in coordination business planning, risk register updates, general business related processes, Freedom of Information (FOI), Potential Parliamentary Questions (PPQ), Public Accounts and Estimates Committee (PAEC).

The Business Manager leads the business support team and is responsible for supporting budget and financial management processes, procurement compliance and workforce management; this includes budget planning and reporting to ensure they are aligned with the divisional business planning and procurement. The position also manages month end and year end activities in accordance with Financial Management Act, expected to have expert knowledge in financial management systems, demonstrated knowledge in financial and procurement purchasing system, share knowledge and provide support to colleagues in completing procurement process with relevant documents and approvals that meet the Department’s requirements.

The Business Manager is the main point of contact for liaison with Finance Division, Procurement and People Services of the Department, provides high level coordination and strategic advice on all aspects of financial/budgetary/HR matters.

The Business Manager plays a key role in providing authoritative advice and solutions on a range of resource management issues and monitoring compliance within legislative provisions and reporting requirements, accounting procedures, business ethics, departmental policies and customer service principles.
