An opportunity exists for a highly self-motivated team leader to join the Department of Education and Training’s (DET) Integrity and Assurance Division. The Integrity and Assurance Division has a wide range of functions and responsibilities, including leading a major integrity reform program, fraud and corruption control, internal audit, oversight of key integrity and corruption risk management, key integrity processes (e.g. declarations of private interests, Speak Up), integrity-supporting functions in the Department (e.g. Integrity Leadership Groups, Integrity Liaison Officers in Regions), and relationship management with the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office, the Victorian Ombudsman and the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC). There are two branches within the Division, the Integrity Branch and the Assurance Branch.

Position Details

The role’s key responsibilities are to:

• manage and/or deliver performance and IT operational audits

• manage and/or deliver project/program assurance reviews

• implement a data analytics strategy to improve the use of data and analytics capability

• undertake data mining and analytics to support the delivery of internal audits across all audit teams.

The role will manage a small team of internal auditors, and will work closely and collaborate with other audit managers in the Assurance Branch and with the Department’s internal audit co-sourced service provider. In addition to specific audit projects, the internal audit manager will lead the use of data analytics in audits and lead or contribute to business improvement initiatives. It requires the successful applicant to demonstrate significant experience in the use of data analytics and IT audits, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong project management and people skills, and a continuous improvement mind set.
