Graduate Coordinator

This role leads and supports DET managers in three key programs: 1. DET’s VPS Graduate program, covering recruitment, placement and development of graduates over a 12-month cycle (including regular support for the managers as well as the graduates). 2. DET’s VPS Cadetship program, providing a pathway into VPS employment for YES trainees from disadvantaged backgrounds (including regular support for the managers as well as the cadets). 3. DET’s Summer Internship program (to be launched in June 2018). The role requires close liaision with DET managers, other areas of the People Division, with the Victorian Public Sector Commission, the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport & Resources, and other departments. Excellent communication, relationship building and partnering with stakeholders are key features of success, as well as practical approaches to achieving results.

Position Details

As the successful applicant, you will have experience in implementing organisation-wide learning and development programs, familiarity with graduate-level programs and a good understanding of broader human resource practices, such as recruitment and selection.

In addition, you will be a team player with exceptional skills in collaboration and relationship building, and have the ability to achieve results through building effective partnerships. You will have experience in being a trusted advisor, providing advice and guidance and building successful partnerships with business areas and external stakeholders.

The Graduate Coordinator role is located within the Organisational Development team of People and Culture within the People Division. The People and Culture branch has the responsibility for delivering the Department's people, change, diversity and culture strategies to:

• lead the Department's leadership and capability development programs aligned to DET's Strategic Intent, Strategic Plan and Leadership Charter

• lead initiatives to embed a culture of integrity and accountability, aligned to the public sector values, across all areas of the Department

• provide strategic advice and support to the Department in organisational culture and effectiveness

• support programs to enhance the Department's practices in diversity and inclusion

• support best practice performance management strategies and processes This role will support the corporate areas of the Department.
