Director - Employee Health, Safety and Wellbeing

This is an exciting opportunity for an executive officer to lead transformational change in the area of health, safety and wellbeing at the Department, including employees at central offices, regional offices and schools. The role leads the Employee Health, Safety and Wellbeing Branch, which supports the Department to provide a work environment and workplace climate that is safe, protects against risks to physical and psychological health and promotes wellbeing. The Branch also provides injury management, policy and workers’ compensation support and services.

Position Details

The Director will oversee a strategic review of the Department's health, safety and wellbeing functions. This will include developing a new occupational health and safety (OHS) strategy and accountability framework and reviewing the operating and service delivery models for OHS and injury management.

This role reports to the Executive Director, People Division and will oversee the provision of high-level, authoritative and strategic advice, and cross-functional expertise in the fields of occupational health and safety and employee wellbeing.

The role requires excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills and an ability to engage with senior Department staff, school principals and peak industrial organisations.
