The Employee Health, Safety and Wellbeing Division (EHSW Division) is committed to the Department's vision to create healthy and safe working and learning environments for Department employees to thrive and succeed.

The EHSW Division performs it functions through five teams that span from prevention, through to response and recovery, along with strategy, advice and support. These teams adopt a holistic approach for supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce across schools, central and regional offices. This includes Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Workers Compensation policy advice and support, for both physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Position Details

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the establishment of the Advice and Support Team in the Employee Health, Safety and Wellbeing Division. The Advice and Support Team will centrally coordinate local resources to provide tailored advice and hands-on support in relation to occupational health, safety and employee wellbeing matters for the Department's workplace managers and employees.

The Manager will provide effective leadership and people management of a team and ensure the delivery of practical, effective and quality advice and support to Victorian government schools and DET corporate staff in relation to management of occupational health and safety hazards and risks.

The Manager will:

  • empower and enable the team to provide high quality, responsive advice and technical support to Department workplace managers and employees using a tiered support model (including through service providers)
  • lead the team's advice and support to improve employee safety and wellbeing outcomes, reduce the administrative burden of compliance through hands-on support, and inspire capability development and intrinsic motivation to lead safety and wellbeing for improved organisational performance
  • act as the lead liaison to ensure coordinated and streamlined support for occupational health, safety and employee wellbeing matters, maximising the effectiveness and efficiency of tiered support across diverse worksites and workforces
