Position Details

The Department of Education and Training leads the delivery of education and development services to children, young people and adults both directly through government schools and indirectly through the regulation and funding of early childhood services, non-government schools and training programs.

The Legal Division is located within People and Executive Services and provides highly valued legal services across the Department's portfolios which include early childhood, schools, higher education, and training and skills.

The Legal Division consists of:

  • the Commercial and Legislation (CAL) branch; and
  • the Workplace and Education Law (WEL) branch (WEL).

The WDD unit falls within the WEL Branch of the Legal Division and advises on and manages discrimination, human rights and employment law matters and other government litigation (eg FOI and privacy).
