Senior Policy Officer

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Senior Policy Officer, National Early Childhood Policy. The position will lead and provide high-quality policy advice for senior executives and Ministers, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the Department, within the Victorian Government and across jurisdictions and be comfortable working on critical, high-profile issues. The position reports to the Manager, National Early Childhood Policy.

Position Details

This role provides an opportunity to help shape early childhood education policy at the national level and would best suit an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high-performing, supportive and fun team.

The National Early Childhood Policy team

  • provides advice regarding new and lapsing National Partnerships, including leading negotiations with the Commonwealth
  • supports policy development in areas where there is significant Commonwealth Government involvement
  • monitors and analyses Commonwealth Government election commitments pertinent to Department portfolio responsibilities
  • works through the Early Childhood Policy Group (ECPG), a subgroup of the COAG Education Council, to progress national early childhood development policy initiatives
  • leads the Department's partnerships with the Victorian community sector.
