Family Violence Senior Practice and Policy Officer x 2 Positions

12 Months Fixed term - full time

This role provides a unique opportunity to join a new team within the Department of Education and Training (DET) and contribute to the whole of government work to address family violence. The purpose of the team is two fold:

• to enhance practice, knowledge and leadership on family violence within DET at organisational, school, early years and HE and VET levels

• to support consistency and coherence in family violence approach and practice across government departments.

The team is part of the Professional Practice and Leadership Division in the Regional Services Group. This role will report to the Family Violence Principal Practitioner. The team’s work will include providing support and resources, monitoring and evaluating initiatives and disseminating knowledge and good practice across the DET.

Areas of work include addressing the key priorities for practice development identified by the Royal Commission into Family Violence and the 10 Year Family Violence Action Plan including the rollout of Respectful Relationships, whilst supporting the Victorian Government’s Education State. The team will also work closely with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice and Regulation to drive consistency and coherence in policy and practice across all three departments.

To succeed in this role, you will need significant knowledge and experience of family violence practice and how to establish and embed good practice through a range of mechanisms, such as policy analysis, research and evaluation, training, professional development and information dissemination. You will need strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills and enjoy applying your skills and knowledge in diverse areas and be comfortable operating in a busy, dynamic and exciting environment.
