Senior Project Officer - Capability and Response

Working as part of a team, this position plays a key role in the development of resources and training packages to support regions, schools and early childhood services improve their capability to reduce risk, and to prepare for and respond to potential emergency events. The role provides a balance of policy and operational elements and the incumbent will be required to represent the Department as an Emergency Management Liaison Officer at the State Control Centre in the event of an emergency. The incumbent will be required to work closely and collaboratively with regional colleagues to support them in their management of emergencies and incidents at the local level.

Senior Project Officer - Capability and Response

Ongoing - Full Time

To be successful in this role you will be a team player, client focused and can be relied on for your strong analytical, stakeholder management, and policy development and implementation skills.

The incumbent will also be required to work closely with other key stakeholders in DET, as well as staff at Emergency Management Victoria, other government departments and with external stakeholders as part of a coordinated approach to emergency management.

You will also be comfortable working in operational environment providing support to regions during emergencies and representing DET at the State Control Centre.

Experience in developing and presenting training modules and representing the Department's interests in cross-government forums will also be valuable.

Your capacity to establish and maintain productive and consultative relationships with regions, schools and children's services sectors, central program areas, Emergency Management Victoria and other government departments will be critical as will the ability to deliver outcomes and drive change in a complex environment.

A demonstrated understanding of the principles underpinning risk reduction in public sector contexts and emergency management reform in Victoria is expected.
