Principal Advisor

The Southern Melbourne Children and Youth Area Partnership (SMCYAP) is a ‘collective impact’ project that enables diverse partners work together to support positive outcomes for children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability. The SMCYAP and Principal Advisor role is currently focused on supporting increased school attendance among chronically absent students. The SMCYAP works across the three local government areas of Cardinia, Casey and Greater Dandenong, and is led by Department of Education and Training and Department of Health and Human Services.

Position Details

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated collaborator to lead and support the work of the Southern Melbourne Children and Youth Area Partnership in the role of Principal Advisor.  

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in effectively facilitating partnership across organisations  and community,  and have a strong understanding of the education and/or community service environment and risk factors underling educational disengagement . Understanding of the ‘collective impact' approach or similar social impact methodology is desirable.

In this role, the successful applicant will facilitate strategic planning and action for the Southern Melbourne Children and Youth Area Partnership,  effectively coordinate  a leadership group, and will support further development of collective impact efforts to reduce chronic school absence in targeted localities in the Southern Melbourne area. Including engaging with schools,  service stakeholders and community members  to further understand local issues and test identified strategies to increase school attendance.
