Project Officer, Learning and Development

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly self-motivated team player to support the development and delivery of strategic projects at the Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership. Bastow offers innovative and evidence-based leadership development that responds to the professional learning needs of school teachers, principals and early childhood professionals. The institute also develops and supports a range of strategic state-wide leadership initiatives that aim to improve student learning outcomes. To succeed in this role, you will have demonstrated customer management skills, an understanding of the education environment and strong policy analysis and interpretation skills. In addition, you will have excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communications skills and preferably be tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline with a sound knowledge of project management principles.

Position Details

The Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership (Bastow) offers innovative and evidence-based leadership development that responds to the professional learning needs of school teachers, principals and early childhood professionals. The institute also develops and supports a range of strategic state-wide leadership initiatives that aim to improve student learning outcomes.

The ongoing Project Officer will support the development and delivery of a range of strategic projects that support the effective design and delivery of Bastow's professional learning suite. This role requires strong writing skills and stakeholder engagement capabilities, as well as the ability to manage and support the delivery of several projects simultaneously. The successful applicant will have the capability to engage with others in response to competing demands, and identify opportunities to value add and support team members in development of professional learning programs.

Experience with project management and preparation of complex briefs and correspondence will enable the successful applicant to be effective in this role. Experience in supporting procurement processes in a government setting will be an advantage.

As Bastow extends its reach of delivery it constantly investigates innovations in adult professional learning, seeking to incorporate these into its professional learning design. This role will support the investigation of these innovations and assist with assessing relevance of these for current and future offerings.

The successful candidate will report to the Learning, Development and Innovation Manager, be located at the Bastow Institute in North Melbourne and will liaise with networks, regions, schools and centrally as required.
