The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) brings together a range of services for Victorian children, young people and adults. These services cover early childhood development (birth - 8 years), school education (5 - 18 years) and higher education / skills (15 years and over).
Sitting within the DET is the Regional Services Group (RSG), which provides an interface between regions and the Department's central office, ensuring that policy intent and outcomes are delivered on-the-ground. The Group supports regional partnerships, regional early childhood services, schools and other education providers to deliver high quality services and outcomes.
RSG is currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Deputy Secretary to lead the coordination and integration of planning, monitoring and evaluation of service delivery across early childhood, schools and skills.
Reporting directly to the Deputy Secretary RSG, you will be a member of a highly effective, dynamic and committed team of 8 executives that form the RSG Executive team. You will provide high-level authoritative advice to the Deputy Secretary in relation to effective implementation design, system-wide performance improvement and operational support enhancements. You will also provide strategic oversight of sector level innovation and engagement to improve performance of the system.
Candidates will need to demonstrate extensive leadership experience in an organisation delivering services in a complex environment with diverse stakeholders. You will have a strong background in public sector policy and project management, excellent strategic change management capabilities and significant experience in leading the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of system-wide reform.
You will have business acumen and a proven track record of aligning organisational strategy, budget and business planning with overall policy and delivery priorities. You will also have high level interpersonal and networking skills and the capacity to represent the Department and State in a range of national and international forums.
