A number of new positions are now available within the School Nursing Program for a Visiting Primary School Nurse. This is an exciting opportunity for a Division 1 Nurse with qualifications and/or experience in paediatric or community health nursing, to join an enthusiastic and dynamic team of School Nurses. Three positions are available for commencement in early November to work within the North West Victoria Region. Two of these positions will be located in the North East Melbourne Area (Greensborough Office) and one in Hume Moreland Area (Coburg Office).

Candidates are required to nominate a preference for their preferred work location when applying.

Visiting Primary School Nurses work as part of a multidisciplinary team within a Local Area in the North Western Victoria Region that offer a health assessment to children in their first year of primary school.  The aim of the program is to promote child health and wellbeing and assist in the early identification of children with potential health related learning difficulties. The Primary School Nurse provides a response to parental concerns collected from the School Entrant Health Questionnaire, conduct follow-up assessments, provide advice to teachers and families facilitate onward referrals to internal and external agencies and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate health promotion in response to identified health priorities in schools.
