Position Details

The primary responsibilities of this Koorie Academy of Excellence Liaison Officer role is to:

• Support the development and implementation of a structured KAE program that engages Year 7 to 12 students, families and community within and across each academic year

• Advocate and assist KAE students to support their aspirations and academic achievement to successfully complete Year 12 and continue onto further study.

• Develop KAE students' leadership capabilities and opportunities through cultural immersion supporting them to become leaders and role models in their communities.

• Work with the student's base school and Koorie Engagement Support Officer to ensure an individual education plan and career action plan are in place and progress is documented.

• Develop and maintain partnerships with the Koorie community, government departments, community service providers and tertiary institutions to support the development and implementation of programs to support KAE student pathways.

This role also includes but is not limited to the following:

• Assist in the creation of a culturally appropriate ‘Virtual KAE Site' that supports KAE students and families to remain connected and engaged throughout their education and future pathways journey.

Collaborate with key stakeholders across government, including at a regional level the Koorie Education Manager, Koorie Education Coordinator and local Koorie Engagement Support Officers, to keep them informed about KAE programs and provide advice on relevant Koorie education matters.
