Principal Advisor

The Department of Education and Training’s (DET) Regional Services Group is responsible for delivering, monitoring evaluating and improving DET services at the regional level. Children and Youth Area Partnerships (Area Partnerships) are a whole-of-government initiative to improve outcomes for children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability, jointly led by DET and the Department of Health and Human Services. This position will have a key role in coordinating and supporting the work of Inner Gippsland Children and Youth Area Partnership. The successful applicant will be required to facilitate and build effective working relationships between a range of senior cross government and community sector partners to secure the delivery of identified work priorities. Demonstrated leadership, building relationships and networking skills will be essential to succeed in this role.

Position Details

An exciting opportunity is available for a VPSG6 Principal Advisor –Inner Gippsland Children and Youth Area Partnership – (Located in Moe) 

To be successful in this role you will have had a record of professional experience in facilitating and building effective working relationships between the community,a range of senior cross Government and service delivery stakeholders. The successful incumbent will have demonstrated leadership and networking skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships to succeed in this role.
The Inner Gippsland Area Partnership is one of eight Area Partnerships across Victoria. Area Partnerships are a place-based approach to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families experiencing vulnerability They bring together key leaders from across government, the health, education and community sectors, Victoria Police, business, philanthropy and   the wider community to test and try new approaches which are sensitive to local needs. A key priority for the Inner Gippsland Area Partnership is to improve early years outcomes. This position plays a key Role in supporting implementation of the initiative, coordinating activity and   managing stakeholder relationships across the Inner Gippsland Area Partnership with a purpose of improving outcomes for children and families.
The Principal Advisor will be based in the Department of Education and Training's Moe office, however will be required to work across the Inner Gippsland Area to support the partnership.
 The position will report to the Area Executive Director, Department of Education and Training, Inner Gippsland Victoria and work closely with the Director Inner Gippsland Area Department of Health and Human Services, community and members of the Inner Gippsland Children and Youth Area Partnership, supporting them in the planning and the delivery of this project.
 This is a 6.5 month fixed term position, whilst the incumbent is on long service leave. Some travel will be required.
