Regional Engagement Coordinator

As a key member of the South Western Victoria regional team, the Regional Engagement Coordinator will provide increased oversight of expulsions and be a key regional point of contact for principals and local area teams. You will develop and deliver guidance and resources to enable earlier intervention to support principals with students with complex needs and those at risk of expulsion, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds. You will coordinate area and region-wide responses and referrals to relevant services and additional support for students, families and schools during and after the expulsion process, including student placement. You will ensure best practice interventions, responses and supports are in place across areas to support students with complex needs and build the capabilities of teachers to meet these needs.

Position Details

This position plays a key role in contributing to the Government's commitment to respond to the recommendations in the Victorian Ombudsman's report on expulsion in government schools and in supporting principals and teachers to keep young people in school – particularly those showing challenging behaviours and are at risk of disengaging.

Your proven capability to build strong relationships and networks with schools, area teams, agencies and government departments will be critical. You will require the ability to engage a team to deliver positive outcomes. 

As a key member of the regional team, you will be a dedicated resource providing increased oversight of expulsions and a key regional point of contact on expulsion issues for principals and local area teams. 

Your work will be focused on enhancing a consistent and coherent approach to supporting students with complex behaviours, and ensuring all relevant supports and interventions are considered and coordinated.  

Knowledge of multi-diciplinary, multi agency interventions, trauma-informed practice, behaviour support and student engagement would be desirable. 

A working knowledge of the Victorian government education system is essential.
