Position Details

SWVR is committed to improving the outcomes for students with English as an Additional Language. This includes increasing the provision of intensive new arrivals programs in areas with a high concentration of students; promoting virtual provision in more isolated settings; supporting schools to make mainstream schools accessible for EAL students; and supporting EAL teachers. 

The EAL Program Officer plays a leading role in; planning and supporting new arrivals English Language provision across the region; assisting schools with EAL program planning and curriculum and assessment advice, including using the EAL Continuum, TEAL website and the Victorian Curriculum Framework; supporting EAL teachers/networks and Communities of Practice with advice about exemplary EAL practice and teaching resources; and developing collaborative partnerships between schools and agencies to build the capacity of schools to improve outcomes for EAL learners and support for families.
