Working as part of a team, the Senior Policy Officer will provide high policy advice and project management on a range of topics led by the Student Wellbeing and Safety Branch. The Branch leads the Department's work on mental health and the Mental Health Royal Commission, student wellbeing, anti-bullying, family violence reform, prevention of child abuse and wellbeing workforces in the education system.

Position Details

The Respectful Relationships team within the Student Wellbeing and Safety Branch leads the implementation and ongoing development of the statewide Respectful Relationships initiative, providing policy and best practice advice, managing engagement and collaboration with the regional workforce and peak bodies from the family violence sector and key school and early childhood stakeholders.

Respectful Relationships is an initiative that supports schools and early childhood education settings to promote respect and equality. It also supports educators to teach children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.

To succeed in this role, you will thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment where your skills in policy, program management, written expression and stakeholder management are used to analyse information, provide advice to decision makers, manage stakeholder relationships, mangage projects and contracts, prepare accurate and concise briefs, reports, discussion papers, project management documents and other written products. You will have an understanding of health and wellbeing policy, preferably in an education context. You will enjoy working closely with a dynamic and high performing team that has a culture of respect, and is supportive of professional development and personal wellbeing.

The Senior Policy Officer will also have the opportunity to support the development of policy advice and assist with project management on a range of topics lead by the Student Wellbeing and Safety Branch, including anti-bullying, mental health, student wellbeing and family violence reform in the education system.
