This critical role leads and manages the financial and business improvement functions across the International Education Division. The role is currently responsible for 12 staff, reports to the Portfolio Director, International Education and is required to maintain strong relationships across the Division and with key stakeholders including Financial Services Division, Procurement Division, Strategy and Integration Division and government schools. The role supports the delivery of high quality services to international students in accordance with the obligations of DET as a registered provider under the Education Services to Overseas Students Act.

Position Details

The position has a key leadership role in managing the financial and business improvement functions across the International Education Division. The role is currently responsible for 12 staff, reports to the Portfolio Director, International Education and is required to maintain strong relationships across the Division and with key stakeholders including Financial Services Division, Procurement Division, Strategy and Integration Division and government schools. The role is required to deliver high quality services to international students in accordance with the obligations of DET as a registered provider under the Education Services to Overseas Students Act. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage the financial and accounting operations of the IED, including the collection and disbursement of overseas student fees and the Division's budget
  • Develop and review policies and processes that support effective and efficient administration of international student programs
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the ongoing financial sustainability of international student programs
  • Provide strategic advice to the Division about improvements to systems, policies and procedures and lead the business planning process
  • Lead and developing staff
