Position Details

VPS5 Senior Policy Officer - Ongoing and fixed term opportunities available

The Department of Education and Training is offering a unique opportunity to get involved in the delivery of a series of reforms in the workforce policy and strategy division in Victoria. With the expansion of our work, we have an opportunity for Senior Policy Officers to join our committed, collaborative, and supportive team. These roles will provide you an opportunity to contribute to the design, engagement, and implementation of workforce policy and initial teacher education policy.

You will play a key role in the division, which is developing multiple, intersecting strategies to successfully implement this complex reform in partnership with universities and other stakeholders. The division is responsible for developing strategies to attract and retain teachers and undertaking sophisticated quantitative analysis to inform policy development. The work includes supporting regional staff with working with schools, monitoring implementation progress and identifying and mitigating risks.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate the Victorian Public Sector values, excel in a fast-paced and changing environment, have strong research, conceptual and analytical skills and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You will enjoy a collaborative and supportive team environment focused on achieving positive outcomes.
