The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is Victoria's education & training regulator. We are an independent statutory authority working to assure the quality of education & training in Victoria. The role of VRQA Manager, Information Services Unit, will be to provide management of VRQA's Information Systems and oversee extraction & analysis of data to meet VRQA's reporting requirements & needs of the Board & Executive and has responsibility for procurement & management of vendors, including translating business requirements into functional specifications & change management. The unit administers the key systems supporting the VRQA's regulatory functions, Board & subcommittees, support for registers & systems covering schools, registered training organisations, home schooling and apprenticeships & traineeships. Most VRQA systems are on Microsoft Dynamics CRM platform

Position Details

The Manager, Information Services Unit, plays a leadership role in the information services unit of the VRQA. The position manages the unit which administers the key systems that support business operational functions, the Board and subcommittees. The unit provides support for. registers and systems for. schools, registered training organisations, home schooling, and apprenticeships and traineeships. Most systems are on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM platform.

The position reports directly to the Deputy CEO and will manage a small highly skilled team. You will also have accountability for. records management strategy and compliance, and ensuring the VRQA meet's its annual reporting obligations to the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner. Additionally, you will be expected to provide sound information systems advice and long term strategic planning to senior. management, the Executive and the Board that balances innovation with practicality.

The successful candidate will lead on:

  • Management of unit, including individual performance, recruitment, development and build team processes
  • Oversee the VRQA's reporting requirements and a range of regular reports and ad hoc reports to the VRQA Board and Executive
  • Provide expert advice and executive support to the Information Technology Knowledge Management Subcommittee (ITKM)
  • Model Victorian Public Sector. Values
  • Manage contracts for. system support and maintenance and enhancements to existing systems
  • Oversee the Unit's work, utilising standard tools (e.g. CRM, Access, Excel, Tableau)
  • Analyse business requirements and business functional specifications
