Position Details

Exciting opportunities are available within the School Cleaning Unit of the Victorian School Building Authority.

Three full-time fixed term Contract Manager roles are avaialble with varying start dates are available. Two positions available to commence in October 2022 and one position is available to commence in January 2023.

The Contract Manager – School Cleaning will work as part of a flexible and high performing School Cleaning Unit (SCU) of the VSBA. The SCU is responsible for supporting all Victorian Government Schools with the delivery of School Cleaning arrangements. One of the key functions of the role is the day to day overall management of the metropolitan area-based cleaning model.

The Contract Manager will be responsible for the management of the commercial contracts arrangements to ensure compliance with the contracts and also Department processes and policies. In addition, the Contact Manager is required to provide support to regional schools and regional cleaning service providers to ensure compliance with the contracts and also Department processes and policies.

The Contract Manager is the first point of escalation for for any issues raised by schools, service providers and all internal stakeholders include the SCU Project Officers. Regular travel is expected and will also include work outside of normal business hours.

The Contract Manager will also be responsible for the coordination and to lead high volume of correspondence, briefings and meetings. In addition, they will be heavily involved with issue resolution, process design and improvement, liaising with the Minister's office and other Government agencies and coordinating administrative tasks and processes. This position will work closely with the SCU's Senior Contract Manager and Project Officers to support the delivery of quality outcomes.

Role specific requirements:

  • A valid Driver Licence.
  • A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).
  • Ability to fulfil the requirements under the Victorian Public Health Direction.
  • This position is required to participate in shift work as the unit operates 7 days per week.
  • This position is required to participate in evening and/or weekend work including travel.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in facilities management – soft services – cleaning (preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working within schools and/or education environment. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working within a Government environment (preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and achievement with being a member of a large, high-performing, productive and engaged team (must have)
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and achievement with managing high-value, high-profile, and multi-site service contracts (must have).
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and achievement with the ability to negotiate and build consensus with organisations on complex policy developments and issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and achievement with undertaking analysis and preparing comprehensive reports and briefings for Ministers and senior executive management on complex issues.

Emergency Response Requirements:

The department plays a major role in Victoria's emergency response activities and compliance actions. Employees can be directly employed for these roles or may be called upon to support these activities as required following appropriate training.
