Position Details

Located in the Property Branch within the Victorian School Building Authority, the purpose of this role is to provide a range of specialist advice in relation to land acquisition and to lead in the development of land acquisition strategies for education projects, working collaboratively as part of a 10 person Land Acquisition business unit, reporting to the Manager, Land Acquisition.

The VSBA's Land Acquisition Program is a strongly collaborative environment where staff work together across various projects. The team manages a large volume of projects and it is a fast paced highly responsive environment.

The role would suit someone with well-developed interpersonal skills and experience of working collaboratively as part of a team.  The role requires strong technical expertise in relation to a number of property related disciplines, including property valuation, cultural heritage, native title, biodiversity and compulsory acquisition.  The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate experience in providing strategic advice regarding the structure of complex land transactions.

The occupant will be responsible for managing complex compulsory acquisitions including the resolution of legal disputes in relation to compensation and for leading discussions with Registered Aboriginal Parties in relation to the management of cultural heritage issues affecting education sites.

An important element of the role is the provision of timely advice and support to other areas within the VSBA and the Department.  Given the high-profile nature of the projects, the role requires exceptional stakeholder management skills to ensure that the projects are delivered on time and on budget, and communication and reporting are delivered to the highest standard.  

Key stakeholders include the Office of the Minister for Education, the Chief Executive Officer and the Executive team of the VSBA, local government authorities, other government Departments and Government agencies such as the Valuer-General Victoria and the Victorian Government Land Monitor.

The role is a 12-month fixed term role.
