Position Details
THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity exists for a committed and passionate individual to join the Office for Youth as a Senior Policy and Project Officer.
In this role you will work across a variety of areas in policy development and program management for the Youth portfolio to support improved outcomes for a diverse range of young people.
You will work closely with the youth sector, including representative bodies such as the Koorie Youth Council, and other portfolios across government to provide coordination support, strengthen communications and influence policy, programs and reforms to support young people, including Aboriginal young people.
We are seeking someone who is flexible, well organised and a supportive team player who can build relationships across government and community sectors, young people and with community members, and who has a good working understanding of inclusive and culturally safe approaches. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of grants and program management, along with strong policy and analytical skills and an interest in the issues impacting young people across Victoria.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Manage programs and oversee all stages of the program lifecycle, including developing business cases, managing grant payments and establishing strong relationships with funded stakeholders to support ongoing monitoring, evaluation and strategic improvement processes.
- Provide analysis and expert advice to the Minister for Youth, the Secretary and senior executives on a wide range of matters of strategic and/or critical impact on policy and program implementation in relation to young people from diverse backgrounds across Victoria. This includes analysing and critically evaluating information and proactively identifying potential implications and risks of proposed policy or program options, and opportunities for strategic improvements.
- Provide clear, timely, accurate, succinct and solution-focused written and verbal briefings, correspondence and reports, on a range of policy and program issues affecting young people, including Aboriginal young people.
