Position Details
THE ROLE
The Communications Adviser contributes to the planning, coordination and implementation of priority communications, major events and community engagement and change activities.
The Strategic Communications teams set the strategic communications direction for priority projects and key programs, policies and State Budget initiatives and play a key coordination role across the Public Engagement branch.
The successful candidate will demonstrate communication skills across all mediums and work effectively in a team environment.
You will work with the digital, social, corporate, creative, media and events and advertising teams to ensure delivery of end-to-end communications: for example, advertising, workforce campaigns, roadmaps, grants, honours and awards, strategies, commissions, and major sector events.
Working independently and in the broader team, you will build relationships with business and program areas, key external stakeholders and across the Public Engagement branch. The role works closely with the Media and Events and social media team.
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Communications Adviser is a key member of the Strategic Communications team in the Public Engagement Branch and works collaboratively with other staff in the branch to support portfolio priorities.
As required, the Communications Adviser will work with the leadership team to ensure effective communications services, support and resourcing during emergency, crisis and peak periods.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of communication strategies and activities and collateral (including but not limited to advertising, events, grants and priority portfolio and budget communications).
- Provide integrated and strategic communications advice. Work collaboratively across the division to deliver effective communications of a high written and visual standard and which comply with departmental and whole-of-government guidelines.
- Develop communication materials and strategies for use across all communications channels including speaking points and publications to ensure stakeholders receive targeted, accurate and timely information.
