Position Details

THE ROLE

As Senior Policy Officer in the Carer Program team you will be responsible for leading policy and projects to deliver on key priorities in the carer portfolio, including but not limited to:

  • supporting development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Victorian Carer Strategy including the range of initiatives supporting carers through the strategy
  • coordination and central monitoring of the Support for Carers Program, including communication with providers and catchment planning to promote service accessibility and positive outcomes for carers
  • implementation of local and state-wide grant programs including supporting application, management, and acquittal processes
  • policy development and project management and implementation related to supporting Victoria's unpaid carers
  • stakeholder management and engagement including peak bodies, funded agencies and carer support groups.

The role requires an agile, creative, systems thinker who enjoys working with sector partners, driving projects and policy development in a team environment to improve outcomes for vulnerable Victorians.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

  1. Provide authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions to complex and sensitive issues based on comprehensive research.
  2. Develop policy initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
  3. Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions.
