An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Communications Advisor on a Ongoing basis in Public Engagement unit.

The Public Engagement branch is custodian of the department's story, brand and reputation. The branch supports the work of government and its partners to build inclusive and empowered communities to achieve the best health, wellbeing and safety for all Victorians.

The branch takes an evidence-based approach to change and delivers progressive and best practice external and internal communications, engagement, digital and media services.

The branch delivers progressive and best practice external and internal communications, media, community engagement, emergency management and digital and media services. The branch also maintains specialist portfolio expertise.

To support this work, the branch maintains specialist teams with in-house capability to plan and implement strategic and tactical communication activities, using a contemporary and creative skillset, which includes:

  • Social media and video production
  • Website planning, development, and publishing
  • Graphic design, events, copy writing and speechwriting
  • Advertising, market research and strategic communications
  • Internal communications strategy and implementation.

The Senior Communications Adviser, Corporate Communications and Events is responsible for managing the priority projects of the Corporate Communication and Events team at the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. You will plan and implement communication strategies that will successfully communicate departmental initiatives and projects to employees and stakeholders. You will be involved in the development of the department's corporate documents (e.g., annual reports, strategic plans) to ensure that unified, consistent, and positive messages define and promote the department's vision and mission.

You will support the activities of the Corporate Communications and Events team including the continual development of the department's internal communication channels, maintaining the Corporate Communication's editorial calendar and support the online and in-person engagement activities of the Secretary of the Department. As well as supporting the planning and implementation of major events for staff, stakeholders, and the community services sector.

You will play a senior role in building relationships with key stakeholders including the department's senior leadership, business and program areas and across the central Public Engagement branch.

You will apply your communications expertise and insight to identify emergent risks and issues and collaborate to ensure a consistent, integrated and innovative approach to communications, content and creative development

As our ideal candidate, you will be required to demonstrate:

  1. Identify risks and issues that will be contentious and provide authoritative and expert advice on how to manage them.
  2. Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  3. Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.

 MANDATORY VACCINATION POLICY:

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its workers and clients. The department may require its employees to be fully vaccinated against preventable diseases such as the current coronavirus (COVID-19)  based on Victorian Chief Health Officer's Directions as issued and updated from time to time. Vaccination requirements may differ from role to role based on their risk category and the duties performed.
