Position Details


Located within Inner Eastern Melbourne Area's Placement and Support Planning team, the Kinship Engagement Worker services the Inner and Outer Eastern Melbourne Areas. In this fixed-term role you will undertake activity to:

  • Identify the needs of children, young people and their carers
  • Find family/kin or kith for children and young people that cannot live at home
  • Stabilise and support kinship care placements
  • Provide improved and ongoing support to placements through early identification of placement vulnerabilities
  • Act as a point of contact for carer concerns or issues


  • Provide quality, timely and effective assessments and support services.
  • Forge strong connections across the department and with external stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach to kinship care.
  • Participate in supervision, direction, training and development.
