Position Details

THE ROLE

The Koori Liaison Worker will assist, inform, support and advocate for Aboriginal families in contact with Child Protection. The role will facilitate links and understanding between Child Protection and Aboriginal agencies and organisations, provide advice and support to Child Protection in relation to their work with the community and inbed culturally sensitive practice within the Child Protection teams.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

  1. Provide information, assistance, support and advocacy to Aboriginal families who have contact or involvement with Child Protection. 
  2. Promote linkages between Child Protection and Aboriginal agencies and organisations.  To promote an understanding of Child Protection within Aboriginal agencies and organisations.
  3. Provide advice, support and assistance to Child Protection staff to ensure culturally sensitive and appropriate practice in relation to their work with Aboriginal children and families.
