Position Details

THE ROLE

The Emergency Management Coordinator supports communities before, during and after emergencies with a focus on preparedness and building resilience to minimise the impact of emergencies on the Victorian community, including the department's services and clients, especially the most vulnerable. This includes the deployment of resources and personnel and coordinating the provision of support to people affected by emergencies in the form of personal hardship assistance payments, emergency housing and psychosocial support. The emergency management function of DFFH, has prescribed roles and responsibilities under the State Emergency Management Plan (SEMP).

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE 

  1. Plan, implement and manage a range of policy initiatives and programs that improve the lives of vulnerable Victorians as well as completing policy reviews which provide viable recommendations within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
  2. Provide authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex policy and issues.
  3. Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports and briefs.
