Position Details

THE ROLE

The Manager Community Participation leads a team of community participation officers to promote a connected, resilient and safe community through place-based partnerships across sectors and community with the aim to enhance service access, equity and capacity to improve local response across Goulburn.

The Community Participation team has a strong focus on innovative approaches to community wellbeing, working collaboratively with community groups, funded agencies, local government, other departments and the broader community-based support systems across the five local government areas of Greater Shepparton City Council and the shires of Moira, Mitchell, Murrindindi and Strathbogie. In Goulburn, the Community Partnership program will also lead key government reforms, including the priorities of the Local Sector Executive Committee, Putting Families First, Better Connected Care and social recovery.  

The role actively works in collaboration with the relevant central office program areas and other internal stakeholders in influencing, developing and implementing departmental policy, ensuring that local needs are considered in policy and program development. Across the state, Community Participation Teams contribute to the Department Families Fairness and Housing strategic vision to empower communities to build a fairer and safer Victoria.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

  1. With a high level of understanding of the local context, strategically review and implement departmental initiatives and planned approaches that impact service delivery and service system issues and support those initiatives to meet departmental, government and community expectations.
  2. Act as a key source of local advice by maintaining an understanding of issues impacting community services and the service system and investigate and lead critical projects that enhance service delivery, budget effectiveness, efficiency or improved community and client access and outcomes.
  3. Forge strong connections across the department and with external stakeholders across sectors to facilitate a partnership approach for place-based initiatives that promote resilience, wellness, connection and empowerment.
