Position Details

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Deputy Secretary, West division, the role is responsible for providing high level and expert executive advice and support on a broad range of issues and projects within the West Division's portfolio. It undertakes executive level project work and is pivotal in prioritising and progressing urgent matters on behalf of the Deputy Secretary. The Director, Office of the Deputy Secretary oversees the following functions:

  • Care services operations support
  • Children and families strategy
  • Aboriginal engagement
  • West Directorate and executive briefing officers

The Director works within a complex environment characterised by competing priorities, and often deals with issues requiring innovative strategies in resolving various and wide-ranging issues. The role liaises, consults and negotiates at a senior level on a range of executive and policy issues and identifies and alerts the Deputy Secretary to sensitive and significant issues as they emerge.
