An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Adviser on a Fixed Term, Full Time basis in Brimbank Melton Area and Western Melbourne Area

The Senior Advisor African and Pasifika young people will work closely with Community Support Groups (CSGs) supporting South Sudanese young people and their families and the Le Mana Pasifika Project supporting Pasifika young people and their families to strengthen their capacity to provide support to South Sudanese and Pasifika communities across the Brimbank, Melton and Wyndham local government areas. The CSGs and the Le Mana Pasifika Project are community-led initiatives auspiced by community service organisations. They support young people and families from the South Sudanese and Pasifika communities, connecting them to services, education and employment pathways and engaging them in programs that build social connection and engagement. Early intervention and prevention strategies are critical for increasing engagement with at-risk young people, as are approaches which engage young people, families and communities. The Senior Advisor's duties will include providing advice to the CSGs and Le Mana Pasifika Project on strategic planning, project development and staff professional development, with an overall focus on building the initiative's capacity to support vulnerable young people and their families. This role will work across government to support the implementation of the initiatives, including the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria Police, Family Safety Victoria, the Department of Health and the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions. The role will also maintain local intelligence on issues affecting African and Pasifika young people and facilitate local, coordinated responses as required.

The position is based in the Brimbank Melton Area and will require the candidate to work closely with the Office for Youth (OFY) within Fairer Victoria who manage the Funding Agreements with the CSGs and Le Mana Pasifika Project.

Desirable qualifications or requirements for this opportunity include: A relevant tertiary qualification in fields related to community engagement, youth or social work would be desirable.
