Position Details
THE ROLE
Principal Policy Officer
The Principal Policy Officer will undertake policy development to support the delivery and implementation of reform resulting from the Independent NDIS Review (NDIS Review) and the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (Disability Royal Commission). You will also provide a critical support role to the interjurisdictional negotiations and policy development of Foundational Supports. You will provide advice to Government on national disability reform, working both across Victorian Government and with the Commonwealth, and states and territories.
The work to develop policy proposals in the design of the Foundational Supports system is complex, fast paced and requires complex intragovernmental and interjurisdictional collaboration and leadership. The incumbent will also need to collaborate closely with other teams in the unit and work in matrix arrangements when required to manage the delivery of high quality work in tight timeframes.
Applicants should possess strong written skills, conceptual and analytical abilities, project management skills and be collaborative.
This role is a senior leadership position within the team and unit. An ability to demonstrate strategic thought leadership and autonomously drive progress to achieve the objectives of the team, unit and Victorian government is essential.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Provide high quality business intelligence, authoritative advice and sound policy recommendations to senior management and government based on comprehensive research.
- Oversee the development of policy and initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Review and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs and cabinet and agency submissions on complex issues.
