Position Details
THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced, talented, and motivated individual to join the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector (Commission) as Senior Policy Adviser.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to implement ground-breaking legislative change designed to improve gender equality outcomes for the Victorian public sector, and wider Victorian community.
As Senior Policy Adviser, you will play a key role in launching and implementing the Commission's regulatory strategy and approach and lead the Commission's government relations and engagement. You will also help ensure the Act's effective implementation by undertaking complex legal research and policy analysis.
The successful candidate will be a high-performing and proactive self-starter with a strong understanding of government processes, the ability to develop strategic policy in a complex environment, build collaborative relationships and networks, communicate effectively in written and verbal formats, and deliver a range of tasks in a sensitive and fast-paced environment.
Experience in and/or understanding of gender equality work, legislation, regulation, and an understanding of the national and international legislative landscape would be an advantage.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Develop and deliver accurate and timely policy and legislation advice related to the operation of the Gender Equality Act to the Public Sector Gender Equality Commissioner, Senior Executives, and the Minister for Women.
- Prepare submissions, briefs and reports for Ministers, Members of Parliament, the Commissioner, and others, as required.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate complex strategic reform projects.
