Position Details
THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity exists for a committed and passionate individual to join the Office for Youth as a VPS4 Policy and Project Officer. The Youth Policy Team is a dynamic, high performing team deeply committed to elevating the voices of young people on issues of importance to them and their futures.
You will play a key role in the delivery of the Victorian Youth Congress (VYC), a group of young people aged 12-25 who provide advice to the Minister for Youth and the broader Victorian Government. You will be responsible for planning and coordinating the VYC and supporting its members, alongside driving any associated activities, projects, communications and relevant engagement with other key stakeholders.
You will also work across other areas under the Youth portfolio to develop and deliver high quality advice to the Minister for Youth and senior executives on a wide range of matters to improve outcomes for young people in Victoria.
We are seeking a highly organised and supportive team player. Experience preparing, planning and supporting advisory or governance groups is considered an advantage. The ideal candidate has experience working with young people and can build relationships across communities, government, youth and other community sectors.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Conduct relevant Youth Advisory Congress processes including Secretariat support. Collaborate with VYC members to deliver advice to the Victorian Government, Minister for Youth and DFFH.
- Initiate and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders from other branches within DFFH, other Government departments and non-Government organisations to support program implementation and policy development.
- Initiate and lead additional projects or discrete pieces of work within the Office for Youth to improve outcomes for young people in Victoria
