Manager, Capital Planning and Delivery

The newly created Specialist Housing For Disability (SHFD) unit manages the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing's (the department's) Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) portfolio. It provides valued homes to more than 3000 residents with significant disabilities, including over 900 properties valued at almost $1Bn.

The department is undertaking an ambitious growth and renewal program to meet demand and transform the existing portfolio. This has created an opportunity for a development manager with capital planning capability who is looking for a role with real purpose, to shape and drive a housing development program enabling people with a disability to live their lives well.

The SHFD unit sits within the Asset Management Branch of Homes Victoria, and as such, the Principal Project Manager - Planning and Delivery (Manager) will be part of a team delivering some of the state's most valuable and exciting housing initiatives.

Relationship building and influencing will be critically important to success in the role. The Manager will work across the department, across government, with residents and our partner Supported Independent Living providers, consultants, contractors and co-investors. SHFD is self-funded and as well as building positive relationships, the Manager must be commercially astute, to maximise the housing outcomes we can deliver for residents.

Within SHFD, the Manager will be working with a passionate and motivated team of disability accommodation experts to conceptualise and implement fresh housing designs, delivery models and process improvements. SHFD's existing Capital Planning and Delivery team will need to grow significantly to deliver the development program and continue to build the tools that will enable efficient, quality delivery.

In summary, this role provides a great opportunity to use your influencing and property development skills to provide quality housing for people with a disability, to think creatively and build and lead a team. An understanding of disability housing would be useful but is not critical given the supports that will surround you.

Are you

  • Skilled and experienced in property development, investment, or construction project management?
  • Results orientated, able to digest large amounts of information, think conceptually and develop economically sustainable new housing models and practical solutions to problems?
  • Passionate about this opportunity to develop accommodation for people with a disability and the benefits the right home can bring to people?
  • A skilled communicator who listens well, can lead challenging conversations and respectfully negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes?
  • A good leader, team member and peer, who contributes to a positive culture?
