Position Details

Purpose 

The Manager, Research Dissemination will lead the development of the Collaborative Centre's research dissemination function, including designing a ‘what works' clearing house, developing guidance materials based on research findings, and working with the research team to deliver a series of evidence-sharing events across the state.

This will include working with partners and stakeholders to design the clearing house parameters and requirements, and put a plan into action to deliver and maintain the product. They will also contribute to the design of the Centre's ongoing model of research translation, dissemination and capability building.

Key accountabilities include: 

  • Leading a collaborative process to design the Collaborative Centre's research dissemination function and clearing house, working with broad stakeholders and partners, including people with lived experiences, service providers, academics, contractors and government bodies
  • Designing and supporting the delivery of a public learning and engagement programs in line with the Collaborative Centre's strategic plan and research priorities
  • Developing accessible and relevant guidance materials based on research findings
  • Contributing to the design and delivery of the Collaborative Centre's broader operating model as required
  • Applying a strong understanding of the strategic context to all work, including the respective roles and responsibilities of the Collaborative Centre, the Department of Health and service providers in improving mental health and wellbeing services
  • Briefing and seeking input from the Collaborative Centre Board and executives as appropriate  
  • Leading project-related consultation as required, including with the Collaborative Centre's Lived Experiences Advisory Panel, the Department of Health, health services, non-governmental organisations, peak bodies, people with lived and living experiences and the mental health and wellbeing workforce 
  • Managing project budgets and contributing to proposals or submissions to seek additional funding, including in line with State Budget processes
  • Establishing and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the Collaborative Centre team and the Department of Health 
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant Commonwealth and State legislation, regulations and requirements  
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and relevant records, information security and privacy policies and requirements. 
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures. 
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact people who use Victoria's mental health system and their families, carers and supporters.  

Specialist Expertise

  1. Expert knowledge and experience of delivering research dissemination platforms and activities within the mental health (preferred), human services or health sector, including working within complex systems to help research have real world impact. 
  2. Demonstrated commitment to working in partnership with people with lived and living experiences of mental illness or psychological distress and their families, carers and supporters (people with lived and living experience are strongly encouraged to apply).

  1. Conceptual and analytical ability: deals with concepts and complexity comfortably; uses analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems, has creative ideas and can project how these can link to innovations.
  2.   3. Systems thinking: diagnoses trends, obstacles and opportunities in the internal and external environment; understands the linkages between natural systems and communities to inform policy; conceptualises and defines the systems working within the organisation.

Qualifications and considerations

  1. A tertiary qualification in fields related to research, mental health, health administration and/or public health is desirable.  

Mandatory Vaccination Policy

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its workers and clients. As it is an essential element of any role within the department that employees be able to attend work onsite and to do so safely, employees are required to be up-to-date with their vaccinations against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.
