Position Details

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Principal Program Adviser will lead and contribute to the development and implementation of a range of innovative strategy and reform projects to improve the current efficiency of ambulance and patient transport services in Victoria and the patient experience.

 

To be successful in this role, you will be a high performing individual with strong leadership, analytical, problem solving, project management and communication skills. The role would be suited to individuals who are comfortable working with complex issues, in multidisciplinary teams and with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Provide high quality business intelligence, authoritative advice and sound policy and project recommendations to senior management and government based on comprehensive research.
  • Oversee the development of policy and project initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
  • Share your expertise with others with a focus on building capability across the team and broader department.
  • Work across multiple projects, including designing and managing complex projects, and lead multi-disciplinary teams to meet emerging and significant work pressures and demands, as required.
  • Review and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs and cabinet and agency submissions on complex issues.
  • Pro-actively build and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate collaboration across the department and with key external stakeholders.
  • Represent the department on key stakeholder committees and support the operation of consultative groups concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives, lead relevant committee and governance processes.
  • Respond flexibly and adapt approaches in order to deliver outcomes in the face of uncertainty.
  • Apply a strong evidence base, and a range of approaches and tools, to investigate, assess and advise on the implications of government policy and projects
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.

As it is an essential element of any role within the department that employees be able to attend work onsite and to do so safely, employees are required to be up-to-date with their vaccinations against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.
