Position Details

Role purpose

The Senior Systems & Network Administrator, Applications & Services (A&S) will help manage the complex Applications & Services ICT infrastructure. The role works closely with teams internal to A&S as well as client and vendor teams. The Senior Systems & Network Administrator will contribute to developing and maintaining the overall A&S ICT Service infrastructure based largely upon Microsoft, Cisco and Citrix technologies, including networks, servers, security toolsets, telecommunications and identity and access management.

Key accountabilities

  1. Provide first and second-level support to system customers and assist with third-level support (technical problems) and maintain user administration systems and logs across all program areas.
  2. Provide quality and responsive service to systems users and provide support to other user administration team members.
  3. Provide initial analysis and diagnosis of systems support incidents and track to closure.
  4. Maintain a sound knowledge of the various technologies used in information management and technology.
  5. Provide guidance to system users in regard to user administration functionality and underpinning technologies.
  6. Identify emerging service delivery issues and areas of risk for system support.
  7. Maintain user support procedures and participate in the development and maintenance of user administration information.
  8. Contribute to planning and business analysis on system development and enhancement.
  9. Liaise and consult with Managed Services Provider to resolve operational issues relating to Infrastructure including Data Centre networking & servers, HPE 3PAR and Qumulo storage, Internet Proxy, Email Services, Citrix NetScalers, XenApp/XenDesktop, Provisioning Services, Storefront and Federated Authentication Services;
  10. Manage the following environments/applications:

(a)     Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP

(b)     Microsoft 365/Azure Tenancy including Exchange, Teams, etc

(c)     Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

(d)     Cisco switches and Firewalls servicing VPN, WAN and LAN

(e)     PKI/External Certificates

(f)       SCCM

(g)     SolarWinds Serv-U Managed File Transfer (MFT)

(h)     SolarWinds Network Performance Monitoring and NetFlow

(i)       Forescout CounterAct, Cylance PROTECT/OPTICS, SpecOps

Technical expertise

 

  • Experience with Microsoft infrastructure services including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, GPO, Trusts, Certificates;
  • Experience with Citrix products including Citrix NetScalers, XenApp/XenDesktop, Provisioning Services, Storefront and Federated Authentication Services;
  • Experience with Cisco technologies including ACI, FTD Firewalls, Switches, Routers
  • Strong understanding and experience with Server and Network administration for large scale enterprise ICT environments including IT and Security toolsets such as CylancePROTECT, CylanceOPTICS, Forescout CounterACT, SolarWinds Network Performance Monitoring.

Qualifications

  • A certificate with ITIL version 3 Foundations or greater
  • A relevant IT qualification would be desirable.
  • Current Microsoft, Cisco, and/or Citrix accreditation would be desirable
  • A full driver's licence is required due to the need to respond to emergencies across the State at short notice and outside business hours as required.

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its workers and clients. As it is an essential element of any role within the department that employees be able to attend work onsite and to do so safely, employees are required to be up-to-date with their vaccinations against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment. This requirement applies unless they have a medical condition which means they cannot be vaccinated against COVID -19.
