About the role: 

There are two roles, one reporting to the Senior Health Information Management Adviser (VAED, VEMD, ESIS), and one reporting to Senior Health Information Adviser (VINAH) will be a part of a data collection management and support team. The ability to understand data management concepts, problem solve issues independently, identify emerging issues, escalate as appropriate and interact with a variety of stakeholders is essential. This role will be responsible for data acquisition, maintaining data standards, the delivery of technical specifications, implementation of annual changes, interpretation and application of business rules and ensuring continuous data supply to the department to meet key reporting timelines.

A significant part of the role is interaction with a range of stakeholders including managers, technical personnel and health service staff.

The position operates in a challenging and dynamic environment, requiring capacity to exercise judgment, work independently and the ability to effectively plan and organise around competing priorities.

About you:

Can you demonstrate the following?

• Specification of data standards and system requirements, including detailed data quality edits.
• Provide expert advice on the quality, accuracy, and relevance of data and contribute to initiatives aimed at ensuring the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of data records.
• Conveys data collection related concepts and policies to staff and stakeholders.
• Provides quality and responsive Helpdesk service.
• Provide expert advice on the quality, accuracy, and relevance of data and contribute to initiatives aimed at ensuring the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of data records
• Contribute to the preparation of user manuals and other technical documentation and the provision of support associated with the ongoing development of data collection systems.

Qaulifications / Specialist Expertise

• A tertiary qualification in health information management, any health-related discipline or information technology related field would be desirable
• A sound understanding of the Victorian health system, and knowledge of the department and its operating processes and information systems is desirable.
