Position Details

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of Manager, Climate Change Program Delivery in the Health Infrastructure Division is a core leadership role well suited to an experienced and motivated individual, eager to work collaboratively across the health sector to drive improvements in climate mitigation and adaptation. You will lead a small team responsible for overall program delivery of key initiatives, including the establishment of a new programs of work, supporting the implementation of the Health and Human Services Adaptation Action Plan and developing and implementing an overall roadmap to net zero emissions in partnership with the sector.

This will be an exciting and demanding role working directly to the Director, Health Infrastructure Policy as part of a small leadership team to deliver an ambitious agenda.

Accountabilities

  • Oversee the development of an overarching strategy and evaluation plan for the necessary program of work related to climate action in health.
  • Work collaboratively to develop and implement key priority programs to drive increased action on climate mitigation and adaptation in the health sector, including defining an overall roadmap to net zero emissions.
  • Oversee the continued implementation of the Health and Human Services Adaptation Action Plan 2022-2026, including regularly reporting on progress, undertaking program evaluation and contributing strategic thinking to overcome barriers and identify opportunities for future funding.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders in the health services and broader health sector, and across the department, to identify priority needs for support and guidance in implementing sustainability and climate policies.
  • Effectively manage and provide exemplary leadership to a small team by:

–      leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contribution to organisational goals and outcomes

–      modelling behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values; and

–      providing specialist expertise and guidance on collaborative program development and implementation in a public policy context.

  • Support the Director, Health Infrastructure Policy as part of a small leadership team, and contribute strategic thinking to drive performance against the ambitious agenda and work program of the unit.
  • Represent the department on key government and non-government committees.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.

Mandatory Vaccination Policy

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its workers and clients. As it is an essential element of any role within the department that employees be able to attend work onsite and to do so safely, employees are required to be up-to-date with their vaccinations against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.
