Position Details

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Deputy Project Director, Frankston Hospital Redevelopment will be the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) lead in the planning and commercial delivery of high government priority hospital and health infrastructure. This will include complex budget and program commitments, and other construction procurement models in a well-defined contract relationship. 

The Deputy Project Director, Frankston Hospital Redevelopment will be a highly focused and driven professional who is passionate about contributing to the delivery of public infrastructure, working within a high-performing project team to drive exceptional outcomes, on schedule. They will have extensive health capital and commercial experience and well-developed emotional intelligence to deliver the project in a complex, multidisciplinary environment liaising with a range of senior stakeholders who may have competing priorities.

The Deputy Project Director, Frankston Hospital Redevelopment will be responsible for providing authoritative specialist input into planning, delivery and reporting on progress of the infrastructure project. 

The Deputy Project Director, Frankston Hospital Redevelopment will have relevant and extensive experience in managing technical, commercial and administrative aspects of major health infrastructure projects delivered as Public Private Partnership (PPP) Projects and/or other High Value High Risk (HVHR) projects, in both procurement and delivery phases.  Strong commercial acumen and experience with PPP projects is necessary in this role.

You will operate in a fast paced, performance focused workplace where you will need to work autonomously. 

This position will report to the Executive Project Director, Frankston Hospital Redevelopment and will oversee the consultant team and manage the relevant contractors on a day-to-day basis.  The position will be responsible for the liaison between the contractors, consultants and the operational hospital and will be required to ensure that the hospital is able to continue to function throughout the construction period. 

The Deputy Project Director will work collaboratively with VHBA's broader PPP Unit as well as the Delivery Unit's executive, overseen by the Senior Executive Director, Delivery, and with all VHBA's service units.

  • Someone with proven project leadership skills in politically sensitive environments combined with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills particularly on capital building projects?
  • An expert in project management and commercial acumen, with proven skills in delivering significant infrastructure project outcomes within specific timelines? 
  • Well known for your high level interpersonal and written communication, consultation and negotiation skills, with the ability to make sound judgements about and articulate issues at senior levels across the public and private sectors?
