Translational Research Manager

Position Details

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a designated lived experience role which requires declared lived experience and lived experience expertise. This means:

  • Personal lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress, and/or substance use or addiction OR of supporting someone living with mental illness or psychological distress and/or substance use and addiction; AND
  • Professional experience working and leading from this experience to represent consumer or carer perspectives (in paid or volunteer work).

The Manager, Translational Research will create and oversee the Collaborative Centre's program of translational research, including working with partners and stakeholders to collaboratively design and deliver translational research initiatives. They will also lead the design of the Centre's ongoing model of research translation, including the design of a service-based ‘learning network' to share and apply research in mental health and wellbeing service settings.

Accountabilities

  • Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.  
  • Provide authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions to complex and sensitive issues based on comprehensive research.  
  • Deliver initiatives that meet the Board and Collaborative Centre's objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters. Manage external contracts actively and effectively.
  • Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, Board papers and ministerial briefs. 
  • Proactively build and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the Collaborative Centre and with key external stakeholders. 
  • Maintain an understanding of Commonwealth and State legislative and policy reform directions to influence policy development. 
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.  
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.  
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.

As it is an essential element of any role within the department that employees be able to attend work onsite and to do so safely, employees are required to be up-to-date with their vaccinations against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment. This requirement applies unless they have a medical condition which means they cannot be vaccinated against COVID -19.
