About the role:

The Department of Health (the department) licences First Aid Services (FAS) under the Non-Emergency Patient Transport and First Aid Services Act 2003 (the Act). First aid services are regulated in accordance with the Non-Emergency Patient Transport and First Aid Services (First Aid Services) Regulations 2021(the regulations). The management and assessment of first aid service licence applications and compliance monitoring of licenced entities is the responsibility of the regulated services team (the team).

These positions will form part of the Clinical Practice Protocol Assessment Committee (the committee), located within the Regulated Services Team, of the Health Regulator Branch. As a key member of the committee your primary purpose is to ensure the development and refinement of comprehensive, evidence-based clinical guidelines for use by licenced First Aid Service organisations. You will play a crucial role in synthesizing clinical information into clear and actionable recommendations, ultimately aiming to enhance patient care, safety, and outcomes.

Your responsibilities will encompass conducting research to gather the latest evidence, collaborating with subject matter experts to validate recommendations, and meticulously drafting guidelines that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will critically review existing guidelines, identifying areas for improvement and updating content to reflect advances in medical knowledge and practice.

Through your expertise and attention to detail, you will contribute to the creation of guidelines that serve as invaluable resources for first responders and healthcare professionals working in the first aid sector, guiding their decision-making processes and promoting consistent, high-quality care delivery across diverse clinical settings, appropriate to their clinical knowledge and skills. Your work will directly impact the standardisation of care practices, fostering improved patient outcomes and reducing regulatory burden.
