POSITION SUMMARY:

Principal Analyst - Modelling and Forecasting, Advanced Analytics

 

The Principal Analyst leads the development and application of econometric models to generate forecasts of demand for key health and social services, which will be used to as critical inputs in policy decisions on funding, service planning and capital investments across the Department of Health and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.  Examples of potential projects include forecasting demand for hospital emergency department; elective surgery; child protection; mental health care; and family services.  Through these projects, the successful applicant will gain a good understanding of the health and social services sectors, and also have the opportunity to make significant contributions towards improving the lives of Victorians.

 

Applicants must have proven capability in the development and application of time series econometric models for forecasting.  Further, the successful applicant must have demonstrated experience using R to conduct econometric forecasting. 

 

While leading econometric modelling, the Principal Analyst is expected to collaborate with stakeholders in government and the health and social services sectors.  The successful applicant is therefore expected to possess demonstrated competence in communicating econometric modelling results to a non-technical audience.
