About the role: 

Safer Care Victoria Academy members currently consist of a team of highly experienced clinicians who SCV engage on a casual basis to undertake complex work that supports Safer Care Victoria and the Department of Health.

Following a successful on boarding of the Academy Clinicians in 2026, SCV is now seeking to expand the Academy to include Professionals.

The SCV Academy professional team will consist of persons with relevant experience and expertise in improvement science, data and analytics, human factors, investigations, problem solving, facilitation and leadership, change management, policy, regulations, cultural safety, education, capability development, and clinical governance.

This role will liaise internally within SCV and the Department of Health, and externally with stakeholders, requiring robust written and verbal communication and time management skills.

The role reports to the Executive Director of Safety and will work closely with other Safer Care Victoria team members to ensure the implementation and delivery of key accountabilities to SCV's strategic plan and vision.

About you:

1. Experienced in solving complex problems and/or incident investigation?
2. A systems thinker with a background or interest in human factors, improvement science, data and analytics, change management, policy, regulations, cultural safety, education, capability development, project management or clinical governance?
3. An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills?
4. Emotionally intelligent in dealing with others and understand the impact of serious events on staff, patients and their families?
5. Able to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams with a diverse range of stakeholders (i.e. clinicians, consumers, and other professionals) to participate in or facilitate reviews, mentor health services conducting reviews, or other outcome based activities.
6. Solutions focused and naturally curious to identify systemic barriers to and opportunities for improvement in safety and quality.
7. Have excellent time management, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and schedules?
8. Passionate about improving quality and safety of healthcare in Victoria?

Qualifications / Specialist Expertise

• Tertiary qualification related to your professional field.
• Post graduate qualification or extensive experience in improvement science, data and analytics, change management, policy, regulations, cultural safety, education, capability development, human factors, project management, clinical governance and investigations is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in organisational change, organisational development, safety and quality management, human factors, and/or organisational behaviour and dynamics is desirable.
